Serch your problem in belt conveyor.

Problems:

Belt runs off at tail pulley.

  • Cause 1 - Pretention too low

    Remedy: Recalculate weight and adjust counterweight.

  • Cause 2 - Idlers or pulleys out-of-square

    Remedy: Realign, install limit switches for greater safety.

  • Cause 3 - Idlers seized

    Remedy: Replace or free idlers.

  • Cause 4 - Improper loading, spillage

    Remedy: Feed should be in direction of belt travel and at belt speed, centered on the belt.

  • Cause 5 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

Belt runs off at all points of the run

  • Cause 1 - Side loading

    Remedy: Load in direction of belt travel.Skirts incorrectly placed.Install skirtboards so that they do not rub against belt.

  • Cause 2 - Improper loading, spillage

    Remedy: Feed should be in direction of belt travel and at belt speed, centered on the belt.

  • Cause 3 - Idlers or pulleys out-of-square

    Remedy: Realign, install limit switches for greater safety.

  • Cause 4 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

  • Cause 5 - Belt strained on one side

    Remedy: Allow enough time for new belt to 'break in'. If belt does not break in properlyor is not new, remove strained section and splice in a new piece.

  • Cause 6 - Improperly placed idlers

    Remedy: Relocate idlers or insert additional idlers spaced to support belt.

One belt section runs off at all points of the run

  • Cause 1 - Belt improperly spliced or wrong fasteners

    Remedy: Use correct fasteners. * Retighten after running for a short while.If improperly spliced, remove belt splice and re-splice.

  • Cause 2 - Belt bowed

    Remedy: A new belt should straighten out when 'broken in' or complete system must be reinspected.

Belt runs off at head pulley

  • Cause 1 - Idlers or pulleys out-of-square

    Remedy: Realign, install limit switches for greater safety.

  • Cause 2 - Pulleys lagging worn

    Remedy: Replace worn pulley lagging. Use grooved lagging for wet conditions.Repair loose bolts protruding.

  • Cause 3 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

  • Cause 4 - Improperly placed idlers

    Remedy: Relocate idlers or insert additional idlers spaced to support belt.

Belt runs to one side throughout entire length at specific idlers

  • Cause 1 - Idlers or pulleys out-of-square

    Remedy: Realign, install limit switches for greater safety.

  • Cause 2 - Improperly placed idlers

    Remedy: Relocate idlers or insert additional idlers spaced to support belt.

  • Cause 3 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

Belt slips

  • Cause 1 - Insufficient traction between belt & pulley

    Remedy: Increase wrap with snub pulleys. Lag drive pulley. In wet conditions, use grooved lagging.Install correct cleaning devices on belt and centrifugal switch for safety.Check initial tension.

  • Cause 2 - Pretention too low

  • Cause 2 - Pretention too low

Excessive belt stretch

  • Cause 1 - Excessive tension

    Remedy: Recalculate and adjust tension.

  • Cause 2 - Drive underbelted

    Remedy: If centers or loadings are increased, or speed reduced recalculate tensionsand fit the correct Dunlop belt.

  • Cause 3 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

  • Cause 4 - Pretension too high

    Remedy: Recalculate weight and adjust counterweight accordingly.Reduce take-up tension to point of slip, retighten slightly. If screw take-up,adjust similary.

  • Cause 5 - Differential speed wrong on dual pulleys

    Remedy: Make necessary adjustment. Observe operation closely.

  • Cause 6 - Damage by oil, acid, chemicals, heat

    Remedy: Use Dunlop belt designed for specific conditions. Enclose conveyor forprotection against rain, snow or sun.

Belt breaks at or behind splice or fastner

  • Cause 1 - Belt improperly spliced or wrong fasteners

    Remedy: Use correct fasteners. * Retighten after running for a short while.If improperly spliced, remove belt splice and re-splice.

  • Cause 2 - Pulleys too small

    Remedy: Use larger-diameter pulleys as specified by Dunlop Conveyor Belting.

  • Cause 3 - Excessive tension

Excessive top cover wear, including,rips,gouges

  • Cause 1 - Excessive impact of material on belt

    Remedy: Use correctly designed chutes and baffles. Install impact idlers. Where possible,load fines first. Where material is trapped under skirts, adjust skirtboards tominimum clearance.

  • Cause 2 - Relative loading velocity too high or too low

    Remedy: Adjust chutes or correct belt speed. Consider use of impact idlers.Observe operation closely.

  • Cause 3 - Improper loading, spillage

    Remedy: Feed should be in direction of belt travel and at belt speed, centered on the belt.

  • Cause 4 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

Belt hardens or cracks

  • Cause 1 - Damage by oil, acid, chemicals, heat

    Remedy: Use Dunlop belt designed for specific conditions. Enclose conveyor forprotection against rain, snow or sun.

  • Cause 2 - Pulleys too small

    Remedy: Use larger-diameter pulleys as specified by Dunlop Conveyor Belting.

Covers cracked or brittle

  • Cause 1 - Damage by oil, acid, chemicals, heat

    Remedy: Use Dunlop belt designed for specific conditions. Enclose conveyor forprotection against rain, snow or sun.

Longitudinal grooving of top cover

  • Cause 1 - Skirts incorrectly placed
  • Cause 2 - Idlers seized

    Remedy: Replace or free idlers.

  • Cause 3 - Material build-up

    Remedy: Remove accumulation. Install cleaning devices, scrapers etc.

  • Cause 4 - Excessive impact of material on belt

    Remedy: Replace worn pulley lagging. Use grooved lagging for wet conditions.Repair loose bolts protruding.

Damage at points of troughing

  • Cause 1 - Critical transition distance or convex curve

    Remedy: Increase transition distance or increase radius of convex curve.

  • Cause 2 - Excessive idler gaps

    Remedy: Idler gaps should not exceed 10 mm even when belt is fully loaded. Refit as necessary.

  • Cause 3 - Sharp brow points

    Remedy: Regrade if possible: increase number of idler sets. Eliminate lead idlers at the brows.
